Riverboat Cruise
The Faculty Center for Learning Innovation (FCLI) and the Teaching & Learning Excellence Division Office of Faculty Development collaborate yearly to plan a night of professional development, activities, and camaraderie. The Riverboat Cruise includes a meal with a gorgeous view of Austin and the flight of the river bats, a themed program focused on a special topic, and the opportunity to network and connect with faculty colleagues from across Austin Community College campuses and departments.
This year, participants will be joined by Louisa Spaventa (Adjunct Faculty, Composition & Literary Studies and 2024 Teaching Excellence Award Winner) for an inspiring session entitled “Words and Wheels: The Wonders of Storytelling.”
Storytelling serves as a powerful tool to protect our humanity. Traditional written narratives can sometimes fall short of conveying our wisdom or translating our experiences. We can create a richer, more inclusive, and playful history that truly reflects our diverse lives by chronicling them through identity wheels, photo montages, dance, or even pies!
