
Grackle Docs
Austin Community College District (ACC) Information Technology (IT) has enabled Grackle Docs, an AI-powered accessibility tool for Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. These tools help you identify barriers and fix issues directly in the Grackle panel without leaving your file.
The Grackle Docs add-on in Google Workspace for Education is available to all ACC users with an @austincc.edu email address.
Access
To use Grackle Docs, log in to your ACC Google account, then:
- Open a Google Doc, Sheet, or Slide.
- Go to the toolbar and choose Extensions.
- Select Grackle Docs.
- Click Launch to open the panel on the right. (You may need to grant permissions the first time.)
Grackle Docs is available to all ACC employees.
Overview
- Increase awareness of accessibility best practices.
- Create content that works with assistive technology.
- Produce content that is mobile friendly, secure, and useful for everyone.
- Use intuitive checks and fixes based on WCAG 2.0 standards.
- Speed up conversion to formats such as braille, audio, and screen reader–accessible versions.
- Convert Docs and Slides to tagged PDFs compliant with the Adobe PDF/UA (Universal Accessibility) standard after fixes are complete.
