Micro-Credentials
While badging and micro-credentials are new at Austin Community College (ACC), some ACC areas already offer them.
These badges for faculty, students, or staff typically fall into one of three categories: competency, participation, and achievement.
Micro-credentials are awards based on certified mastery of competencies through short-term learning experiences.
Digital badges are graphic representations of a competency, achievement, or event participation.

- Determine which micro-credential type fits their program (competency, achievement, participation)
- Understand ACC’s approval processes for micro-credentials
- Plan for publishing a micro-credential in Suitable, ACC’s badging host, once approved
