ACC International Programs is accepting applications for its 10th Faculty Learning Community cohort!
Austin Community College (ACC) International Programs in collaboration with the University of Texas-Austin Hemispheres Consortium will host a Faculty Learning Community (FLC) on globalizing curriculum for 2025-2026. We are proud of providing this opportunity to ACC faculty for the last 10 years!
This two-semester program will engage with an interdisciplinary group of ACC faculty members in high-quality programming and collaborative discussions on global topics using the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals as a framework.
With the ultimate goal of integrating global topics into their curriculum, the FLC provides the opportunity for ACC faculty to learn about global citizenship, human rights, gender and women’s studies, peace and conflict studies and other issues in various world regions. We partner with the UT Hemispheres International Outreach Consortium which covers Western Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Russia, East Europe, and Eurasia, and South Asia. These meetings provide a collaborative and supportive space to discuss and work with their colleagues to develop new curriculum or programming that is inclusive, intersectional, and equity-minded.
Faculty will be treated to speakers from UT-Austin and elsewhere who will provide real-world examples and time-tested strategies to introduce these ideas into the classroom. Faculty will complete a project that serves to infuse global topics into their curriculum, such as creating a new module or syllabus, a course redesign, or some other culminating project of the faculty’s choosing.
Faculty will receive a $1,250 stipend for participating in the FLC. The stipend will be divided into two payments. The first payment of $500 will be issued in December 2025 after participating in the fall meetings, with the second payment of $750 being issued in May 2026 after participating in spring meetings. Stipend payments are contingent upon full participation and completion of the FLC requirements.
If you have any questions, please email maria.dorantes@austincc.edu.
FLC meetings will start during the fall semester and take place virtually via Zoom, except for May 1 which will take place in person at Highland Campus (HLC) (location TBD). Each meeting will be approximately three hours long. All meetings will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
