At Austin Community College (ACC), we recognize that fulfilling basic needs is essential for both academic success and personal well-being. Our annual calendar theme, Meeting Basic Needs, underscores our commitment to ensuring that every student has the support they need to thrive in all aspects of their lives and how faculty can direct them to these resources or address these needs within their curriculum.

This year’s calendar highlights the extensive resources and initiatives that ACC provides, addressing crucial areas that affect our students daily.

Each month, the calendar delves into one basic need, illustrating how ACC meets these through innovative curriculum integration, supportive campus resources, and active community engagement.

In the Curriculum

ACC faculty have addressed the basic needs of students within their instruction, from free sewing classes to mental health workshops.

On Our Campuses

From food pantries to technology loans, ACC campuses are equipped with a variety of resources designed to directly support students’ daily needs.

In the Community

We collaborate with local organizations and initiatives to extend support beyond the campus, ensuring that our students have access to comprehensive services and opportunities within the wider community.

Discussing and addressing these needs is essential for creating an educational environment where all students can succeed. By supporting these fundamental areas, we foster a culture of care and resilience, empowering students to focus on their goals without stress from unmet needs. This calendar aims to inform faculty about these resources, allowing them to share directly with students and address these needs in their instruction.
