Faculty Talent Onboarding

The Teaching & Learning Excellence Division’s (TLED) Office of Faculty Development has partnered with Human Resources (HR) and the Distance Education Office to create an experience for new faculty like no other. The programming is designed to launch you into a successful career here at Austin Community College (ACC) and bring ease to your first of many semesters at the college.

Together, the programming consists of:

    • Human Resources I-9 Verification and Workday Training/Onboarding
    • Welcome Bag Pick-Up Day
    • Human Resources Faculty Orientation
    • TLED Faculty Development Boot Camp Orientation
    • Distance Education Quality Matters Training
    • TLED Faculty Development Monthly Onboarding Sessions

TLED Faculty Development Boot Camp Orientation for New Faculty

All new faculty, full-time and adjunct, are invited to attend the Faculty Boot Camp. There are two options to choose from, although attending in person allows for you to meet other new faculty members and make connections that will support you throughout your first semester.

Please read through the options below and then submit the New ACC Faculty Information & Boot Camp Form linked below to let us know which option you will be attending, and to share your bio and headshot, and provide your T-shirt size.

Virtual Boot Camp Information

Asynchronous Online Quick-Start

If faculty cannot attend option 1, they must complete a 4-hour Asynchronous course. Faculty will be added to a Blackboard Course by August 23rd. This course can be completed on their own time by the end of their first semester.

Compensation: $200 (For Full-Time Faculty and Adjunct Faculty with a course assigned)

 

TLED Faculty Development Monthly Onboarding Sessions for ALL Faculty

Onboarding sessions differ from orientation in that they dive deeper into understanding what makes for a successful faculty experience at ACC. Faculty will continue to learn about ACC’s culture, student success strategies and resources, course design, and the faculty evaluation process. ALL faculty are encouraged to attend all four sessions during their first semester.

These two and half hour sessions are offered in HyFlex and synchronous online environments and include one day and one evening option each month of the faculty’s first semester:

    • September 13th or 17th: Connecting With Your College, Colleagues, and Students
    • October 4th or 8th : Evaluation and Portfolio Process
    • November 15th or 19th: Student Success Resources
    • December 6th or 10th: Teaching & Learning Strategies

Compensation:

    • All faculty receive 2.5 hours per session of professional development credit for attending
    • Adjuncts: $54/hour
    • Attendance stipend is available within the first 12 months from hire date for Adjunct Faculty

Distance Education Quality Matters

For faculty teaching courses with a Distance Education Component (HYD, HYC, ONL, DLS, & FLX only)

Quality Matters Training:

Compensation

      • $500 stipend for Full-Time and Adjunct Faculty attending and completing all QM sessions and alignment table
      • An additional $500 stipend to complete the Course Design Process
