Announcement

The Fall 2020/Summer 2021 compilation reports, aggregated reports by course types (e.g. lab or clinical courses), will be delayed by a few weeks. The Office of Faculty Evaluation has been working closely with the vendor to develop and test the new compilation reports to send out in bulk. This delay will not impact deans and department chairs. Faculty evaluation staff will add a copy of the compilation reports in the departmental BOX folders as scheduled. For any questions, or to request a compilation report be sent out individually, please email facultyevaluation@austincc.edu.

Note: The compilation reports containing an instructor’s average score of each course format are not provided directly to each faculty member. Faculty may request a compilation report from the Office of Faculty Evaluation to be pulled and shared manually.

Report Format & Rating Scale

On December 4, 2020, the Academic and Student Affairs Council approved a recommendation from the shared governance Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee to change ACC’s course evaluation 1) report format and 2) rating scale. These changes were prompted by software upgrades to meet requirements for fully online course evaluations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

1) Report Format: On your course evaluation report, you will find the “Global Index,” or the overall average from your course evaluation (see the orange highlight in the screenshot below). ACC course evaluations are based on a 6 point scale and the average in this example is a 5.3 out of 6. You can see a sample report here.

2) Rating Scale: The approved rating scale aligns with the following numerical scores:

Excellent Very Good Fair Needs Improvement Unacceptable
5.5 – 6.0 > = 5 > = 4 > = 3 < 3

Course Evaluation Rating Scale

    • 5.5 – 6.0 “Excellent”
    • > = 5 = “Very good”
    • > = 4 = “Fair”
    • > = 3 = “Needs Improvement”
    • < 3 = “Unacceptable”
